Summer Sports Score for TV Watch-Time

Welcome to our weekly snapshot of TV by the numbers, highlighting the most-watched shows and networks for July 17-23, with insights from Inscape, the currency-grade smart TV ACR data provider and data technology division of Vizio. Data is linear, live TV only and includes all episode types (new and reruns). Rankings are by percent share duration (i.e., time spent watching).

The four-day 2023 Open Championship golf tournament takes first place on Inscape’s ranking of most-watched programs last week, capturing a 2.20% viewership share — more than twice that of the No. 2 program, Good Morning America

  • The only other sporting events on the top 25 ranking — MLB and the FIFA Women’s World Cup — both make it into the top ten. MLB games captured 0.93% of watch-time, moving from No. 11 to No. 3 week-over-week. Meanwhile, the first few days of the Women’s World Cup had a 0.56% viewership share, putting it in ninth place.

  • There was only a single program on the ranking that maintains its position week-over-week: ABC World News Tonight With David Muir (No. 17).

  • Speaking of news programs, multiple others saw week-over-week gains, including CBS Mornings, Fox and Friends, America Reports, CNN News Central, The Five and NBC Nightly News With Lester Holt

  • America’s Got Talent (No. 23) and Everybody Loves Raymond (No. 24) were two non-news week-over-week ranking newcomers.
