 It’s that time of the year when last call for summer finds some already getting in the swing of school, while others soak up what’s left of the sun.

As ever, the summer winds have blown in more change.

National troops are now being deployed in local streets in made for TV moments, while national groups are buying up local TV markets with military precision.

Can the local cities control their own airwaves in the emerging world? As programmatic pipes gain prominence in TV, will personalization replace local?

TV writ large is pushing to a self-serve future to capture small business bucks now dominated by social and search. Meanwhile, search is choking out independent publishers on the open web using AI summaries due to the pressure from AI platforms—which are now talking amongst themselves about a bubble.

Sure feels like something is about to burst. But then again, hallucinations are just part of the new media equation.
