It May All Come Down To CNN

NETFLIX is only looking to buy Warner's studio and HBO. CNN and the other cable networks would be spun off into a new company that would be saddled with AT&T's debt and most observers feel its fate is to become like AOL, a slowly depreciating asset that can still generate a profit for a decade or more...or be snapped up by PE or a competitor.

PARAMOUNT is looking to buy everything but would then have to figure out what to do with CNN given that it's been investing in its CBS News division.

What Trump meant by "sold" is unclear too. The exact quote (via NBC News) is below but he has long been troubled by what he perceives as the network's unfair coverage of him.

It should also be noted that whether or not he has the authority to actually intervene in the process and to what degree is uncertain, but that has not stopped him before.

The quote:

"I think CNN should be sold, because I think the people that are running CNN right now are either corrupt or incompetent," Trump told reporters during a roundtable with business executives at the White House.

"I don't think they should be entrusted with running CNN any longer. So I think any deal should — it should be guaranteed and certain that CNN is part of it or sold separately," he added. "I think CNN should be sold along with everything else."
