Hot List: TVREV Originals, What’s New in New Fronts, More

"If at first you don’t succeed, try doing it the way your mom told you to do it from the start." - Proverb

It’s that time of year when media companies roll out a red carpet for Madison Avenue, Q1 earnings start to shape the outlook for the year, teens do proms and America takes a moment to celebrate the most powerful thing known to man… moms!

Add to that entertainment tariff threats, massive agency layoffs, open fire among nuclear powers in India/Pakistan, the threat of suspending the right of due process for citizens, topped with a new Pope from Chicago, and we have ourselves a very 2025-like Spring in full swing.

The first week of May put the New in NewFronts:

  • VIZIO showed it’s Walmart vision, LG Ads had its own event with Fifty Cent and Samsung Ads had Letterman on its show.

  • YouTube, Comscore, Wurl, Cadent, TikTok, T-Mobile, Anoki, Revry and more reminded advertisers that TV is far more than what networks are pitching.

  • LinkedIn launched influencer programs and a new B2B for CTV pitch (watch for our special report on that in June)

We expect the Upfronts to be less about buying shows and more about finding audiences in a cross-platform world. In other words, even networks are starting to look and talk like cross-platform publishers - just ones with really big IP.

Lots of coverage and analysis on this and more from Alan Wolk, Jon Lafayette, John Cassillo, Eleanor Downling and Tim Hanlon below.
