Wurl’s Dave Bernath On The Changing Nature Of FAST And CTV
TVREV sat down with Wurl CEO Dave Bernath to drill into the particulars of his keynote from this year’s StreamTV Show.
It was a wide-ranging discussion, touching on why FAST is so different than cable, why the TV OS matters so much (check out TVREV’s newest report for more on that) and why discovery continues to be such a problem for CTV in general and FAST in particular.
In the first video, Dave looks at the growing influence of the TV OS, the challenges smaller apps face in getting discovered and building an audience, and why measurement remains one of CTV’s biggest weaknesses.
In this second video, Bernath explores why the economics and structure of FAST have developed in ways that are far less favorable to channel operators than the traditional cable ecosystem.
In the final video, Bernath challenges one of the industry's biggest assumptions. Drawing a comparison to Spotify, Bernath asks: "Have you ever heard a Spotify executive say they have too much music?"
