World Series Goes Head-To-Head With Football On Broadcast TV

While football owns the fall, this year’s World Series still managed to compete for eyeballs across broadcast networks. Data from VIZIO’s Inscape shows that from Oct. 28-Nov. 5 the World Series accounted for 10.78% of minutes watched across ABC, CBS, Fox and NBC. That barely trailed the NFL (11.1%) and college football (10.94%) despite more games for those sports in the timeframe.

  • The World Series was a big hit for Fox, in particular, with 31.48% of all minutes watched on the network from Oct. 28-Nov. 5 (more than double what the NFL accounted for).

  • Fox’s World Series Pre-Game show also made up 3.28% of minutes watched on the network during that stretch — No. 4 among all programs.
